Being Christa and Justin’s wedding photographer was an absolute dream. We had an amazing sunny day. Every detail was absolutely stunning. Everything ran like clockwork (I credit all of their spreadsheets!) and everyone was so much fun. I would shoot their wedding every Saturday forever if I could do it all over again!
Our day started off at the Rose’s Heritage Inn on Military Road in St. John’s. I normally prefer bright and airy spaces, but the Victorian style of this Bed and Breakfast absolutely suited the style of this wedding. From Christa’s Vera Wang Ball Gown (the biggest I have ever photographed) to all of the delicate details, this day was like a fairy take come to life! Tracy and I had ample time to work with the details while Christa and her bridesmaids were at Athena by Anstey having her hair and makeup done! Having ample time is the dream of every wedding photographer!
This was the one of the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen in my life. I am in love with the Anemones (the sweet little white flowers with the blue on the inside). These works of art were styled by Rock Paper Flowers on Duckworth Street!
The alterations on Christa’s dress were done by the incomparable Rodney Philpott and his team. I adore this photo of Christa and Paige, their beautiful little girl. With all the girls all ready to go, Tracy and I headed off to the Anglican Cathedral to meet with Justin and boys before the ceremony!
Have you ever seen such angelic flower girls?
And then it was time!
Seriously, St. John’s is a beautiful city. And we have some really beautiful churches. This one is extraordinary!
First ever family photo as a married couple!
What a seriously beautiful bunch of ladies!
These two are some of my favourite photos from Government House, ever!
Just before the reception, we headed back to Bally Haly to get some sunset shots. Except, well, we miscalculated and the sunet happens off to the side. So we took some photos with Signal Hill behind and then something magical happened…
…A guest drove up in this incredible car! And we absconded it for some romantic twilight photos. These are my favourites from that set! Christa and Justin’s reception was absolutely stunning, Bally Haly has never looked so sparkly!
When it was time for their choreographed first dance, Christa’s gorgeous dress was just too many layers to dance in! So it was off to the bridal suite for a party dress for the first dance!
And then back again! A real life princess with some quick dress changes!
This blog post would not be complete at all without sharing this stunning custom designed engagement ring from the Golden Tulip. I couldn’t love it more than I do!
Christa and Justin, thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer. I couldn’t have enjoyed working with you and your family and friends any more than I did. You two are perfect for each other and you have a beautiful family!
Much Love,
Amy Donovan
