Boudoir sessions are so empowering. They are a chance to relax ,have your hair and makeup done, and then have fabulous photos taken of you. All of my clients are nervous and excited all at once. And that is totally normal! But occasionally, real life happens and clients can’t make it out to their session.
A couple of months ago, I had a last minute boudoir session cancellation. Instead of leaving the slot open, I put out a Model Call in my Boudoir Group, looking for someone amazing who could use a a little boost in the self confidence department – but had a good sense of humour about things!
Enter Carolyn.
Carolyn was as bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed a couple of years ago, and she was so friendly and helpful that the minute I saw her name in my inbox, I knew it had to be her. Then I read her application. And the deal was sealed. To her credit, we had THREE days to get her ready to fill that spot! She has a baby at home but made getting ready for her boudoir session her mission and she really brought her ‘A’ game.
I couldn’t believe she showed up with all the incredible outfits she ran out to buy when she found out!
But enough from me- see below what Carolyn has to say about her boudoir experience! “Amy put out a model call just 3 days before the boudoir shoot, I thought to myself “hell why not” and sent an email telling her all about me… wide arse, flabby stretch-marked belly, etc.
To my surprise, Amy wrote back, saying that I was exactly what she was looking for. I spent the next couple of days giving myself pep talks that I could do this. I can’t put fully into words how empowering the whole experience was. From the moment I walked into the room Amy and April made me feel like an absolute rock star. That hotel room had zero judgement and I’ve never felt more confident walking around in my fancy pants! My body may not be perfect in the magazine’s eyes, but I’m comfortable and confident with who I am.
Amy helped me with my self-love, and I’ll be forever grateful to her for that!”
– Carolyn I will never be glad that a client can’t make it to a session, but I am extremely grateful that it all worked out for me to photograph Carolyn that weekend. As an active member of the Boudoir group, I know that it has done wonders for her. It has also done wonders for me. Empowering women is the very best part of my job. Self-love and body acceptance are important to me and I can do anything to encourage that for someone else, my heart feels full. I am grateful for having this session because it was as empowering for me as it was for her!
Much love,
Amy
