Michael and Leanne’s beautiful St. John’s Wedding at St. Patrick Church (before they headed off to a super fun cruise ship destination wedding!)
Way back, you know, when I was still a spring chicken, I met my very good friend’s cousin Leanne. She was sweet and funny, and more fun than me. And, she invited me a a party. I don’t typically like to leave the house ‘after supper’ because once the news and the street lights come on, the best place in the world is on the couch with a cozy blanket and a cup of tea. But, after some badgering, and some attempt at doing my hair, I consented to go. She was being crafty, because she was busy trying to fix me up. You know, introduce me to a boy.
And, well, it worked. Jamie and I celebrated 15 years of knowing each other last week AND Leanne married Michael. She is a great matchmaker!
Because Leanne and Michael were planning their destination wedding on a cruise ship, it was important to their her Grandparents that she actually be married in their church, St. Patrick’s, in St. John’s before they left.
Leanne wanted to capture the memories from the church and then some family photos after, so I met them at St. Patrick’s Church just before the ceremony. When Leanne booked me and we chatted, she had said, “Just family” at the church. I pictured that there might be 20 smiling faces in the crowd.
Nope! These guys have a lot of people who love them!
Leanne’s Pop walked her up the aisle to Michael who had the biggest groom grin I have ever seen! He clearly knows just how special she is! Leanne and Micheal’s son, Jack, was the sweetest. He was so loving and attentive to his parents all day. He definitely was excited about ‘their’ big day! In the history of all the weddings I have ever seen, this might have been the cutest moment I have ever seen. Mid ceremony, the Priest paused, and motioned to Mrs. Ring to come up to the front. They then conferred about something. Then he announced to everyone that she was in charge! Clearly, it IS her church and Leanne getting married in it WAS important! With the two of them married off, we headed back to Leanne’s Grandparents in Quidi Vidi for family photos.
We walked across the street from their house, but ultimately the freezing temps with the horizontal rain was too much so we headed inside their living room for photos. Then before everyone headed out to supper, Michael and Leanne got brave and we headed back across the street to her Pop’s fishing shed for the fastest portrait shoot ever. I think we may have been outside for 4 and a half minutes (which included piling all those layers of gorgeous wedding dress back inside the car!)
I spent a good percentage of my summer days in Quidi Vidi. It’s easily one of the most popular wedding photo locations in St. John’s. But this is the first time I have ever shot wedding photos in Quidi Vidi, with people from Quidi Vidi!
I am sure Michael, Leanne and Jack are having an absolutely amazing time with all their family and friends on the hot and sunny portion of their destination wedding! I look forward to seeing photos when they get back!
Congratulations you guys on your beautiful wedding and your beautiful family. I am glad I got to be with you on your big day!
Much Love,
Amy
