I hadn’t seen Beth, one of my best friends in nearly 5 years. As one of my oldest friends, when her sweet Mom got ill about 5 weeks ago, my heart was broken for her. Sadly, it was a quick battle and we said goodbye far too soon. In the spirit of living a vibrant life, we have been filling days our days embracing the good and fun in life. We set out to take some couples portraits of her and her husband Derek before he headed back to Edmonton.
I am thankful I get to spend a few more days with her before she heads home as well. Because of flight schedules and bad weather, we didn’t have a whole lot of options when it came to the timing for these couples portraits.
So, even though the wind was howling, we all piled in the car and made our way down the Southern Shore to Brigus South (my new favourite photo location!).
By the time arrived, the wind brought the rain at us sideways. Inside of 2 minutes, it turned into freezing rain. So, what was meant to be a sunset couples portraits session quickly turned into a ‘Hurry up and get back in the car before someone loses their fingers!” session.
After Derek tapped out and went back to the car, Beth braved a few more minutes for some head shots! Because she is also a photographer, photos of herself are important – but seldom happen! She was an absolute trooper as she sat being assaulted by sleet! I am sure when she sees this she will tsk tsk at me because she prefers a closed mouth smile, but I say no way! This is how I see my beautiful friend on happy days and it’s how I want to see her in photos!
Beth, as sad as I am that such a tragic reason brought you back home, my heart is so full that you are here. I love you so much and any minutes I get to spend with you are happy minutes, even on very dark days. You are as bright as your hair and your shoes and you make me proud to call you my friend. I will be one sad girl when we put you back on a plane this weekend, but I am thankful for all the minutes you are here.
So Much Love,
Amy
